Supporting Open Source Innovation at Embedded Recipes 2025
This year, we’re proud sponsors of Jean Pihet, who will be taking the stage at Embedded Recipes 2025 in Nice, France. Jean is a passionate developer and open-source advocate whose work perfectly aligns with our values of openness, innovation, and community collaboration.

Jean, the founder of NewOldBits.com, is a seasoned freelance developer specializing in open-source and low-level embedded systems. With deep expertise in Linux kernel development, bootloaders, Buildroot/Yocto, hardware rework, and secure boot solutions, Jean is a passionate advocate for open hardware and software.
His talk, “CNC and 3D Printing: Open Source All the Way!”, will explore the possibilities of building fully open-source workflows for CNC and 3D printing — from host tools (OS, CAD, slicers) to machine hardware and firmware. Jean will walk the audience through a real-world use case: transforming a CNC machine with outdated electronics into a fully open-source, modern tool. The presentation will include a live demo, highlighting the use of FreeCAD and host-generated machine code.
