For one of our clients we are seeking a skilled Embedded Systems Test Engineer, to work on a next-generation compressor controller platform featuring complex I/O, multiple sensors, and expansion modules. The system is powered by STM32 and NXP i.MX9 running Yocto-based Linux, with embedded software primarily in C/C++ and Rust.

• Start date: ASAP
• Location/Hybrid: 2-3 days/week onsite in Antwerpen, 2-3 days work from home
• Duration: long term
• Contract: B2B via Mind (you have to be register as self-employed in the country of your residence)

Testing environment

• Compressor controller with added modules with many I/O and lots of sensors
• Hardware: STM32, NXP IMX9, Yocto
• Software: C, C++, Rust

What you will be doing

Test Engineering & Automation (Hands-on Focus)

• Define test requirements together with embedded engineers
• Set up and maintain automated test systems using existing in-house tools
• Perform low-level debugging on Python, Linux, and embedded platforms

Test Framework Ownership (Strategic Focus)

• Ensure long-term maintainability and extensibility of test infrastructure
• Drive continuous improvement of the automated testing framework in test coverage, test speed, and reporting

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong experience testing embedded systems with complex I/O and sensor interactions
• Hands-on experience with Python scripting, Linux debugging, and automation tools
• Familiarity with STM32, NXP i.MX family (especially i.MX9), and Yocto Linux
• Solid understanding of embedded software development in C/C++ (Rust is a plus)
• Proficient with Git, CI tools, and test automation pipelines
• Comfortable balancing hands-on execution with higher-level test architecture ownership
